Batman: Arkham City
They say you can take the Batman out of the city but you can’t take the city out of the Batman. Welcome to Arkham City. With the infamous asylum no longer adequate to house all of Gotham’s criminally insane, a relocation program has moved these misfits to a remote area of the big city, fenced off from society to roam free under the watchful eyes of crazed psychiatrist Hugo Strange – and if you’ve seen the latest trailer online, then you’ll know how crazed he is.
As expected, not everything is as it seems, and no one knows this better than the Dark Knight himself. The Joker might be taking a sick day following a bruising the last time round but plenty of new and familiar faces including Two-Face, Mr.Freeze and many more are eager to cause a ruckus in the slums of Arkham City.
That’s not to say Batman isn’t visiting the city unprepared. A fleshed-out combat system and new and revised gadgets and gizmos should make surviving the city – now five times the size of Arkham Asylum and brimming with sidequests – far less daunting.
Arkham City is screaming bigger and better on almost every front, raising the already high bar set by its precursor in 2009. Expectations are high but rest assured Batman won’t go quietly into this (dark) night.
