Titanfall dominates E3 Game Critics Awards with six nominations

Not bad for a startup. EA’s impressive action game and Respawn Entertainment’s first project ‘Titanfall’ earned the most nominations ever for this year’s Game Critics Awards: Best of E3.

The online sci-fi multiplayer game earned six nominations including Best Original Game, Best of Show, Best Action Game, Best Console Game, Best PC Game and Best Online Multiplayer. Respawn Entertainment is the studio co-founded by Vince Zampella, whose former studio Infinity Ward created Call of Duty. The game, due out in 2014, will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PCs.

Sony also put on a good showing, trouncing console competitors Microsoft and Nintendo by earning 10 total nominations including Best of Show and Best Hardware for the PlayStation 4 and Best Original Game (Rain), Best Action Game (Killzone: Shadow Fall) and Best Action-Adventure Game (Infamous: Second Son). EA led all game publishers with 16 total nominations.

The 2013 Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 recognizes the best of what was on display in hands-on playable form at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The awards, voted on by an independent group of 30 leading North American media outlets that cover the videogame industry. The winners will be announced July 2.
